Sesamia inferens, a major pest in double-cropped areas because it has many host plants. The larva has an orange-red head capsule. The body is purplish-pink dorsally and white ventrally. The pupa is dark brown with a tinge of purple in the head region. The adult is fawn-colored with dark brown markings. The hindwings are white.
