Popularly known as MIT, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is a private science and technology university located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1861 in response to the need for engineers and scientists in the rapid industrialization of the United States, MIT has consistently ranked first among the top engineering schools in the U.S. and beyond.
