Strottehoof: Die boonste deel van die lugpyp bevat 'n raamwerk van kraakbeentjies en spierweefsel, genoem die larinks. Dit manipuleer volume en hoogte. Die larinks is nie net 'n orgaan vir klankproduksie nie, maar dit speel ook 'n rol om die inaseming van vreemde voorwerpe te voorkom.
