Behavior occasioned by a reinforcer. The term originated with reinforcers that were actually consumed (e.g., food and water) but has been extended to other reinforcers, perhaps to a point of limited usefulness (e.g., if the opportunity to run in a wheel is a reinforcer, wheel running is the consummatory response).
